Nile Cruises with Abercrombie & Kent

Abercrombie & Kent and the Nile

The pharaohs of ancient Egypt constructed luxurious boats to ferry themselves down the Nile in a manner befitting their exalted station. The tradition of luxury Nile River cruising is carried on by Abercrombie & Kent, whose custom-built Nile vessels offer the finest in comfort, service and exploration on the river today.

An A&K Nile cruise leads you along a timeline of ancient history, with site after wondrous site coming to life under the skillful tutelage of your A&K Egyptologist: Kom Ombo's unique, dual temple; Edfu's temple, the best preserved in Egypt; Luxor's Valleys of the Kings and Queens; the Temple of Karnak; and off-the-beaten-track Denderah and Abydos. At Luxor and Aswan, disembark on A&K's private dock - A&K guests don't have to cross three or four other ships to reach the shore, as other travellers do. Your visit concluded, return to the ship to find your crew waiting with cool towels and lemonade, a perfect antidote to the desert heat.

Between site visits, this floating Nile home is yours to enjoy. Relax on the Sun Deck under the shade of a canopy, watching the lush Nile shoreline pass by. Take a dip in the pool, head below decks to the library or stop in the bar for a cocktail. Meals on board an A&K Nile vessel are always a treat: breakfast and lunch buffets combine local cuisine with favorites from back home, while one of the dinners is a special "Egyptian Night" celebration. Don a traditional galabeyya and sample a variety of Middle Eastern dishes, followed by live music and dancing well into the night.

“It flows through old hushed Egypt and its sands, like some grave mighty thought threading a dream.” - Leigh Hunt, A Thought of the Nile (1818)

The A&K Difference

Abercrombie & Kent's sister Nile cruisers, 'Sun Boat III' and 'Sun Boat IV,' were each designed to offer a distinctive style and ambience to their guests. However, both ships embody A&K's commitment to quality and both offer several amenities in common:

See the Sites, not the Crowds

A&K maintains its own docks at Luxor and Aswan, ensuring you never have to cross another company's ships to reach the shore.

Peerless On-Board Staff

Our trained Egyptologists truly set Abercrombie & Kent apart from all other companies cruising the Nile. These lifelong experts sail with you, illuminating every site along the river with their matchless knowledge and enthusiasm of both ancient and contemporary Egypt. In addition, both ships carry a fulltime physician throughout the cruise itinerary, a fact that helps travellers sail with ease.

Fine Dining

Dining on the Nile hasn't been this elegant since the days of Cleopatra. On board A&K's vessels - whether you are dining colonial-style on 'Sun Boat III' or within the spacious, Art Decoinspired dining room of 'Sun Boat IV' - every meal is well-prepared and well-presented. You, in turn, may taste what life was like for the royal rulers voyaging the Nile many years before.

Public Areas

Both ships offer a Sun Deck, a sheltered haven where you may enjoy a drink, take a dip in the pool or watch the passing tableau of life along the Nile. When you're ready to get out of the sun, take a table in the lounge, grab a book from the library or hit the treadmill in the workout room. For your comfort, smoking is not permitted in the ship’s interior. There is a no-cellphone policy in public spaces.

Sailing the Nile with A&K

Seven-Night Cruise on Board MS 'Sun Boat III'

The ultimate Nile cruise, this seven-night Nile sojourn takes you to both the must-see sites and the out-of-the-way marvels most other tours miss, including the Temple of Abydos and its several sanctuaries. Pharaohs & Pyramids includes seven nights on board 'Sun Boat III.'

Four-Night Cruise on Board MS 'Sun Boat IV'

See the Nile's most iconic sites on this four-night sail, which visits the off-the-beaten-track Temple of Denderah, the temples of Karnak, Luxor, Edfu and Kom Ombo as well as the Valleys of the Kings and Queens. Enjoy this cruise as part of Egypt Unveiled, Splendors of the Nile or Signature Egypt.

Chartered Dahabieh Cruise

There is no better way to experience the Nile at its most tranquil than on board a dahabieh (twin-sailed Egyptian yacht). Independent travellers to Egypt may charter a dahabieh - including the newly launched 'Zein Nile Chateau', managed by A&K - on their customized Tailor Made journey.
