ROVOS RAIL TOUR TO VICTORIA FALLS
01 October 2011 - 30 September 2012
This six day journey commences in Cape Town and ends at the majestic Victoria
Falls in Zimbabwe.
On this northbound journey, tour the historic village of Matjiesfontein and
visit the impressive Motorcar and Railway Carriage Museum on the platform, or
wander through the Lord Milner Hotel and it's beautiful grounds.
Next stop Kimberley - and a guided tour of the World's largest man-made
excavation, the "Big Hole" and it's supporting Mine Museum. Arrive in
Pretoria at 12h00 on Wednesday, where you will be introduced to our beautifully
appointed Station and 60 acre property. Participate in an optional tour of the
City or have the afternoon at leisure before spending the night in your Hotel.
The train departs on Thursday morning and slowly meanders westwards through
Mafikeng into Botswana and then north towards Mahalapye, crossing the Tropic of
Capricorn just after Gabarone.
Once the train has passed through the dry reaches of Botswana, we arrive at
Plumtree in the late afternoon for border formalities with Zimbabwe. The journey
continues in a north-westerly direction, passing Bulawayo, and heads towards
Thompson's Junction and Hwange Game Reserve, where animals can be spotted from
the train. Journey end is the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi
River.
Note: Depending upon railways capacity, this journey could be routed
northwards through Beitridge and Zimbabwe.
Cape Town to Victoria Falls:
- Monday
- 11h00: Depart from Platform 23 at Cape Town Station and proceed inland
to Worcester.
- 18h00: Upon arrival in Matjiesfontein, guests may visit this quaint
Historical Village.
- Tuesday
- 14h30: Arrive in Kimberley. Passengers visit the Big Hole and the Mine
and Diamond Museum.
- 16h00: Depart from Kimberley and proceed overnight via Potchefstroom
to Pretoria.
- Wednesday
- 12h00: Arrive at Rovos Rail's Private Station, Pretoria. Transfer to
your Hotel to overnight.
Note: Tours of Pretoria and surroundings can be arranged.
- Thursday
- 10h00: The train departs from Rovos Rail's Private Station in Capital
Park.
- 13h00: Lunch is served in the dining car(s) en route to Zeerust.
- 19h30: After traversing the Magaliesberg Mountains, dinner will be
served as the train heads towards Mafikeng for Border formalities.
- Friday: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served on the train.
- Saturday: Breakfast and lunch will be served on the train, with a
17h00 arrival in Victoria Falls.
RACK RATE ONE WAY per person sharing and includes accommodation,
meals, excursions during the train journey, as well as alcoholic beverages
whilst on board the train.

Special Notes:
- Departure dates are specific and excursions may be changed according to
schedule achieved.
- Visas needs to be purchased and paid before departing for Africa.
- Visas are available through booking agents; please check with the relevant
Embassies for visa requirements.
- Passengers are advised to take anti-malarial precautions, as might be
prescribed.
